Minnesota racers Green, Boumeester top Arnold Motor Supply Iron Man Challenge openers at 81 Speedway

Minnesota racers Green, Boumeester top Arnold Motor Supply Iron Man Challenge openers at 81 Speedway

By USRA (Park City, KS) -- The 2019 campaign for the Arnold Motor Supply Iron Man Challenge got underway Thursday at the 81 Speedway with action in both the American Racer USRA Stock Cars presented by Medieval Chassis and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods presented by Pace Performance.

It was the first visit by the series to the 3/8-mile dirt oval located just outside of Wichita, Kan., and not only was it the southernmost trek for the Iron Man tour but the first for any USRA division to compete at the longtime home track of the NCRA.

In the end, it was a pair of long-tows from the Gopher State that got the job done.

Despite a short field of cars, the American Racer USRA Stock Cars put on a great show-as they always do-with 2017 Iron Man titlist Derek Green of Granada, Minn., fending off veteran Steve Jackson for the win.

USMTS boss Todd Staley was third while local Hutchinson racers Scott Miller and Mike Burian rounded out the top five.

In Out-Pace USRA B-Mod action, Dustin Daniels of Colby, Kan., led every lap of the main event but it was Jared Boumeester of Waseca, Minn., who walked away with the trophy and winner's paycheck after Daniels was disqualified during post-race technical inspections.

Kansas racers filled three of the next four spots with Abilene's Brent Fielder besting Pittsburg's Brian McGowen for second. Ben Moudry of Hastings, Minn., finished fourth and 12th-starting Dakota Foster rounded out the top five.

Jared Boumeester won the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature.

Headed for Hutch: On Friday, the Arnold Motor Supply Iron Man Challenge invades the historic Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kan., with American Racer USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods back in action again along with the USMTS to complete the thrilling three-division card.

Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7. Spectator tickets are $20 while kids ages 11 and younger get in for free. Pit passes are $35.

The Kansas State Fairgrounds is an half-mile dirt oval located just west of SR 61 on 17th Ave., then north on N. Poplar St. (2000 N Poplar St, Hutchinson, KS 67502).

Official Host Hotel: As the preferred lodging location for USMTS competitors and fans, the Best Western Wichita North is offering a discounted rate of just $74.99 plus taxes per night and includes breakfast for two each day.

Guests will enjoy a nice stay in a comfortable hotel near Old Town Wichita, with ample vehicle parking for RVs, trucks and buses. Best Western Wichita North also features convenient amenities such a fitness center, indoor pool and guest laundry to make guests feel right at home, and their pet-friendly hotel allows you to bring your furry pal along.

Located off I-35 at 915 E. 53rd St. North, Best Western Wichita North offers delicious meals at their on-site restaurant, Country Kitchen Restaurant, plus free Wi-Fi, whirlpool suites and mobility accessible features makes your stay even more enjoyable.

When calling to make reservations, guests are asked to say "81 Speedway" to get the special discount rate. Call (316) 832-9387 to make your reservation today or visit http://www.wichitabestwestern.com for more information.
